Facebook has announced that it will buy Oculus VR, a Californian start-up which specialises in virtual reality headsets, for $2 billion.
The deal includes $400 million in cash and 23.1 million Facebook shares, valued at $1.6 billion, as well as further $300 million in bonuses for Oculus’s employees, providing the company reaches certain agreed milestones.
