USB Type-C (new technology preview)

Recently, the USB 3.0 Promoter Group announced a new USB Type-C specification, expected to be published by the middle of 2014.

The key features include smaller size and reversible plug orientation. The new Type-C connectors won’t appear for at least another 18 months, and won’t be mechanically backward compatible with current USB connectors.

inFORM – Dynamic Shape Display (concept preview)

Clever guys at Tangible Media Group of the MIT Media Lab developed a ‘display’ that can render 3D content physically, so users can actually interact with digital information in a tangible way.

Not only that, inFORM can also interact with the physical world around it, for example moving objects placed on the display’s surface.

FABtotum – Personal Fabricator

If this project really gets off the ground, it can cause a real revolution in personal 3D printing.

While we are seeing more and more affordable 3D printers coming on the market recently, this is the first one containing 3D Scanner, 3D Printer and a Milling Machine in one compact unit.
